I'm a 35 yr old father of two boys 5&6. I got my first Aurora set at 5 which I kept
along with my cars from childhood. I got back into the cars and starting collecting last year when
my kids were old enough that I could run with them. I run Aurora pancake motors mostly tjet some
AFX both stock. I like restoring bodies and redoing the chassis as well to take old cars back up
the running shape again.

Another baby boomer back into slots starting again Spring 1998. I picked up a pile of
track at a steal price and set it up for my two young boys. We love cars, they enjoy racing
slotcars and of course I got hooked. MAN these things are addicting !!!
Mostly pancake motor stuff, reminicent of my growing up near Buffalo NY and running
tjets on snowy winter days, back when Aurora ruled a young boy's world. Today I run with the kids
and some informal fun running with others locally. Hope to work on producing some new resin shells
as time allows. Also a big builder-collector of 1/24 car kits, attend many auto racing live events
and bracket race my 1970 SS396 a couple times a month.

The Gateway Slot Racing Association was formed officially in 1992 out of several other
area organizations. We sanction
1/32nd and 1/24th "scale" slot car races in the St. Louis area on 5 custum built, 4-lane
routed tracks and area commercial tracks. We also host HO-St.Louis Thunderjet races on
our
4 lane Tomy track. The GSRA races every Wednesday evening and HO-St. Louis races every
Monday evening.

Had a layout when I was in grade school (mid 60's). Played with it
for a few years. Packed it all away during high school. Keep it all
these years and took it out around Christmas of 97. Decided this is
what I've been missing! Went from about 10 old t-jets to almost 200
slot cars of all types. I love Can-Am/GTP style and F1/Indy cars the best.

i am a 46 yr old father of two boys, ages 10 and 12. got back into t-jets and afx after
doing the magnet car thing for a while. fun going back to the good old days. host racing at my home

After years of watching Andy push his diecast cars around my old Eldon 1/32 track, one
day Andy asked about getting the track working. It needed a lot of work, so to satisfy our "need
for speed", we bought a small Tomy set. We have bought a lot of cars (mostly Tyco) since then, and
a bunch of various kinds of track. We have now decided to build a permanent four lane setup, using
Tomy track. We have also recently developed an appreciation for T-Jets (thanks to the DL) and
non-Magnatraction A/FX cars. As it turns out, Andy (aka "The Boy") who will soon be 12, is a better
T-Jet tuner and racer than the old man! At least I showed him how to take the things apart!

Most interested in designing different track layouts. Can never
put up a perminent track because I am always changing the layout.
Mostly trying to collect every type of piece of track that Aurora made
in both lock and pin and AFX. Currently trying to collect the new
Tomy style as it seems easier to connect and is smoother.

I enjoy converting other model cars, either die-cast or resin, into T-jets. I am planning to develop a slot car city and racetrack along with HO trains (even if they are out of scale) and scenery during the next few years, and to work on it more when I get to retire in July 2005. Until then I tinker, build, and plan. I hope to learn resin casting and airbrushing in the next few years to aid in this plan. Hi, Recently I discoverd the "Fray" I am fasinated by this and although 48 years old with "shot" reflexes, I am a competitor. I would like to contact other racers in the Texas area and "WOP ASS' at the FRAY. It seems this is the premedona, see who is the best amoung the best, cross the U.S> championship of all slot racing thing to do...Thank's for any help I can get, however, I must warn you I have been racing T-jet since I was 8, Quarter Midjets against the likes of Terry Labontie since I was 11, and have raced at at least three commercial tracks in seise....Got my first fray car ready,,,Rip Roaran... |
